Adam Rapa and the Belgian Brass

Adam Rapa, a well-known trumpet soloist performs his arrangement of the Weber's Clarinet Concerto No. 2 with the Belgian Brass. I saw him perform this piece with a jazz combo at the 2013 International Trumpet Guild Conference in Grand Rapids, MI, and it was a jaw-dropping performance! It is great to hear that he has re-orchestrated his challenging arrangement for a brass ensemble. His virtuosity and unique ideas makes him stand out of the crowd!

BLAST! the show

Rapa is a former member of the touring show BLAST! and is now living in Europe. He teaches students via Skype, and is a traveling soloist.

What is unique about the Belgian Brass is that all its members are virtuoso soloists. Similar to German Brass' start, this ensemble began as a brass quintet called Belgian Brass Soloists Quintet. Its artistic director, Manu Mellaerts, thought of the idea the quintet becoming a larger group comprised of soloists who have had roles in symphony orchestras. The ensemble has 12 members, and offers a "balanced" program in concerts that range from renaissance to contemporary works.
